Direct Semi-blind Symbol Estimation for Multipath Channels - Signals, Systems & Computers, 1998. Conference Record of the Thirty-Second Asilomar Conference on

چکیده
A number of recent papers have treated the problem of channel estimation when known training data are present. The unknown part of the signal is typically estimated in an independent step, where the channel inverse or the Viterbi algorithm is applied to the received data. In this papel; a technique is presented for directly estimating the unknown symbols in a block of data that also contains training information. An unstructured estimate of the channel can also be obtained that exploits the finite alphabet property of the transmitted signal. The proposed method is implemented in the frequency domain, and works best in situations where the transmitted symbols act to convert the linear convolution of the channel into circular convolution (as with a cyclic prejix in multicarrier systems). However; reasonable results are still obtained asymptotically even without this constraint.

Semi-Blind Image Restoration Based on Telltale Watermarking - Signals, Systems & Computers, 1998. Conference Record of the Thirty-Second Asilomar Conference on
We propose a novel concept for the restoration of locally degraded images based on telltale fragile watermarking. In our approach a data stream culled a watermark is embedded in the wavelet domain of an image such that munipulation of the image is reflected in the embedded stream. The altered stream is used for semi-blind restoration to undo tampering. It is assumed that the embedded watermark ...
متن کاملA Subspace Approach to Blind Space-Time Signal Processing for Wireless Communication Systems - Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on
The two key limiting factors facing wireless systems today are multipath interference and multiuser interference. In this context, a challenging signal processing problem is the joint space-time equalization of multiple digital signals transmitted over multipath channels. We propose a blind approach that does not use training sets to estimate the transmitted signals and the space-time channel. ...
متن کاملIndexability of Restless Bandit Problems and Optimality of Index Policies for Dynamic Multichannel Access
We consider an opportunistic communication system consisting of multiple independent channels with time-varying states. With limited sensing, a user can only sense and access a subset of channels and accrue rewards determined by the states of the sensed channels. We formulate the problem of optimal sequential channel selection as a restless multi-armed bandit process. We establish the indexabil...

متن کاملBit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)
In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...
